Access to the circle:

There is no parking available for visitors to this circle, not even on the nearest road, the A30, which is over 1km from the site. This circle lies at the end of a farm track with tall hedges either side, the entrance to this track is barred by a padlocked gate. This track however is a public right of way and so access is not limited. Halfway down the track lies Boscawen-noon Farm and beyond this point the track narrows and towards the end an opening in the hedge leads to the circle.

Description:
Boscawen-Un is an impressive site, the stones are all evenly spaced and of respectable size. At the centre is a quartz pillar with two axe carvings near it’s base. These are a fairly recent discovery and I had them pointed out to me by the man who discovered them, Andy Norfolk, who happened to be at the site when I visited. To the west there is a possible entrance to the circle but this is speculative. The stones are overgrown in summer but at the time of my visit, the day after the 1999 solar eclipse, most of this vegetation had been cut back. The circle was also very busy, quite a number of people were gathered at the stones and it was difficult to gain a true impression of the site. All I can say is that it is clearly well preserved and certainly worth a visit despite it's distance from a suitable parking place.
