Dumpit hill is not marked on the Landranger OS maps but is marked on the large scale 1:25 000 Outdoor Leisure map No 10. The circle lies to the NE of the village of Hebden along a public footpath and about 400m NNW of Edge house. Parking is possible next to the main road near High Dene where the public footpath meets the main road. A walk of 800m is required along this steep footpath towards Scar Top House. The circle lies in the heather covered moor about 20-30m on the right of this footpath and about 50m from a derelict dry stone wall.

Description:

Five stones are clearly visible in a near semi circular ring in the dense heather. Four other stones in the rings interior could be the remains of part of the NW section of the circle. The circle is quite badly damaged but still clearly recognisable as a stone circle. The largest stone stands only 0.8m high to the east of the ring. Not a very impressive stone circle, thick dense heather clutters the ring and diminishes its appearance and the steep walk that is needed to reach it makes it hardly worth visiting.

Dumpit Hill

The stones of Dumpit Hill are almost hidden in the overgrowing heather.
