Access to the circle:

This circle is not marked on the Landranger OS maps, it lies near the village of Carperby and below the towering heights of Ivy Scar. A public footpath leads from the village up towards the moors and then past the base of Ivy Scar. The circle lies next to this pathway about 2.1km from the village.

The site is not immediately obvious, little more than a circular arrangement of boulders lying on a slightly embanked earthwork. There are many stones around this bank but none of these could be described as standing stones. The largest of which is only 0.5m high. Most of the other stones are small and unimpressive and there are so many that it is difficult to get an estimate of their true number. The circle is perhaps best viewed from the top of Ivy Scar, from here it is clearly discernible but at ground level there is very little to see. The circle is not really worth visiting, the only redeeming factor being the excellent views from the top of the Scar and a pleasant walk.

The rubble bank at Carperby is all that remains of the circle.
