Description:

Brodgar is one of the best examples of a circle henge in the country. The many remaining stones stand tall and slender on a sloping hillside between the Harray and Stenness lochs. Some of the stones have been marked with graffiti, much of which is quite old and dates back to the turn of the century, some however is even older and the Viking inscriptions on a small stone to the north demonstrate that graffiti is by no means a modern day pastime. A majestic circle to visit; and even with it's ample share visitors, it still holds onto it's enigmatic air of silence. The circle is well documented in many books and to elaborate any more here would be unnecessary, it is dated to around 2500BC.
