Access to the circle: These stones are not listed as a stone circle but they are large, artificial and marked on the OS Landranger map. They appear on the map as a cairn and highlighted as a place of tourist interest. The stones are reached after a long drive up a rough farm track into a valley. A walk across moor land to the stones is then needed. Description:Two very large stones are clearly visible nestling on grassy moor land, close by are a further group of stones and I am not sure of the relationship between the two sites. Whatever the status of these stones it is clear that they are not the remains of a stone circle and their remoteness and difficulty of access do not make them interesting candidates for a visit. They also lie between two ugly parallel power lines that dominate the entire valley.Further down the valley is the small stone circle of Cerrig Pryfaid and this is much more interesting. |
