Access to the circle:

A footpath leads from a farm at Pont Mynach NE from the main A 4080 road. About 250m along this footpath is an opening in a hedge where two large stones stand either side a gate. These are marked on the OS map as standing stones and a cross. The Bryngwyn Stones should not be confused with 'Castell Bryn Gwyn' which is a derelict henge to the east and on which a modern building now stands.

Description:

The two stones at either side of the gate are said to be the last remnants of a circle henge. It is so ruinous that it is totally unrecognisable as a henge or stone circle. The stones however are said to be the largest in Wales and their size alone gives some indication as to the original dimensions of this early circle. It has been stated that at one time there were 12 stones here but of the other 10 there is now no trace. Only for the enthusiast!

Bryngwyn Stones

The Bryngwyn stone, supposedly the tallest in Wales.
