The circle is situated within a round wooded area of tall trees 450m along the track and to the left across the edge of a field. It is fairly easy to find, the stones being enclosed within a low wall which extends all the way round the circle. It may be necessary to ask permission from the farm house before visiting, there is usually no objection and when I visited I was pointed in the right direction. Description:This circle is overgrown in summer and sits within the confines of a small spiny of trees. The stones stick out above the tall over growing grass and outlying shrub. The interior is open and uncluttered apart from the grass growth. The surrounding area out with the site is well overgrown during the summer months. The Sunhoney site is excellent and secluded, all the stones stand upright and tall. The low 0.5m recumbent lies flat between two tall flankers, it is a massive 5m long, of a different type of stone from the rest of the circle, and has clearly defined cupmarkings on it.The circle stands on a hillock with views in all directions and is well worth a visit. A fine example of a Recumbent stone circle and in very good condition. |
